Water and mold damage has become a problematic issue in the last few years. We have
experienced a great increase in concern regarding indoor air quality and the prevalence
of health threatening microbes, fungi, and bacteria.
The first step in mold remediation is to remove any moisture holding material from
the area, while preventing any spread and contamination of loose spores. Then apply
a thorough cleaning to remove any live fungi and spores. At this point it is time
to inspect and assess the cause of the water intrusion, correct that problem and
then initiate necessary repair work.
Prevent any further water intrusion by checking for contributing factors such as
leaking drains, pipes, or ac units and scheduling an annual cleaning and inspection
of the exterior of the building. By staying vigilant and responding to early warning
signals such as discoloration, peeling, or cracking of walls and trim you may save
yourself the expense and experience of a major mold remediation and repair project.
We have found the most severe mold conditions are often hidden within walls and
on the back side of sheet rock. When we assess a water or mold problem we will always
want to make an inspection hole and check the interior of the affected wall or surface.
A thorough inspection is absolutely necessary to plan a successful mold remediation
project. |
